07.12.05 Tuesdays Reflection
Do not depend on the hope of results. Start more and more to concentrate not
on the results but on the value, the rightness, the truth of the work itself
. . . in the end it is the value of personal relationships that saves
everything.
- Thomas Merton

This week on July 14, we celebrate the life of Phil Leonard. A year ago, he
left us but he is still very close to us.

Sunday's readings reminded me of his hospitality, openness, all-embracing
acceptance, like the abundance of nature that cyclically provides moisture
for the earth, "... making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the
sower and bread to the eater." (Isaiah 55:10)

Phil was like the sower who plants indiscriminately, prodigally throwing
seed to whatever ground he walked upon, always confident that there would be
plenty of good soil in which the kin-dom could bear fruit.

He was the good soil, receptive in a spirit of trust and openness to God's
grace.

Let us remember Phil this week in the way he would like us to by giving
someone a great big hug, a kind word of acceptance and confidence.
