07.26.05 Tuesdays Reflection
What would I answer if God asked: "What would you like me to give you?"
Solomon asked for an understanding mind (1Kings 3:5-12) In the French
readings I heard on Sunday, the word "heart" was used instead of "mind" and
God responded: "I give you a wise and listening heart." My Spanish bible
used: "Un corazon atento - an attentive heart." Edwina would ask for a
heart like God's and like God's children: "warm, moist, salty."

The heart is devalued today. Wisdom is taken as a property of the mind only.
Those who are passionate about their work, about what they believe in, are
denigrated with what has become pejorative words such as tree huggers,
bleeding hearts, fearmongers, activists, advocates, even when their research
and minds are clearly superior than those of their detractors.

The gospel reading reminded me that where my treasure is, there my heart is
also. What do I treasure? So what do I ask for? A wise, attentive, listening
heart.

Cecily

you would prefer: August 16, 23, 30, September 6, 13, 20, 27. Thank you
