02 05 07 Challenged to Reflect
Sunday we were challenged to reflect on what it means to be called
and chosen by Jesus to be disciples (Luke 5:1-11). Jesus touched
Simon Peter, James, and John in their ordinary, workaday lives -
catching fish. Jesus promised that they would continue to do what
they did best, but with a new twist - they would catch people.
Our passage from Spirit and Lifestyle is similar:
"Our task is then, to continue our works as missionaries in our own
home countries. Our mission is a life long commitment to justice and
transformation."
This week, would be a good time to plan to attend the VMM assemblies
in June and July. Meeting with others, recalling the "old days" and
marveling at those who continue to be called, is such a good way to
encourage ourselves and others to continue our works as missionaries
and our life long commitment.
Let us keep all the VMs in our prayers, especially Susan and Richard
Schmaltz who are in Guatemala and Beth Kloser. Send emails to her
Beth Kloser, 2353 E. Pontiac Road, Warsaw IN 46582. Janet asks we
don't dwell on the accident but send well wishes and tell about daily
life.
